A few years ago, on a typical Wednesday evening, Henrik came to visit us at home and I poured coffee and handed out a few cookies. Curious, I pulled up an extra chair at the table. “An app for the church”? That’s fun! Looking over a few shoulders, my idea for this app started to take shape. That same evening, I thought about features I would put in such an app, if I ever learned to program.
I am now studying Computer Science at Leiden University and have become more familiar with creating programs. At the end of 2020, I was sitting in my room in Leiden thinking about what I wanted to do next. The lockdown was still in full swing and I had not been to church since July 2020. Suddenly I had to think about that “church app” from Donkey Mobile. Was their work done yet? Did every churchgoer have an app now? I didn’t have one myself, so I decided to look around on the internet. There I saw that there was still a lot of work to be done and so I didn’t hesitate for a moment. Then I called Henrik immediately. The following week I was able to get started.
“The lockdown was still in full swing and I hadn’t been to church since July 2020. Suddenly I thought about that “church app” from Donkey Mobile. Was their work done yet?”
In the meantime, in addition to my studies, I work one day a week at Donkey and I am happy to be able to work here every day. It is wonderful to be able to build God's Kingdom in such a creative and challenging way.
