Meet the donkey
Mark Overbeek
Back-end developer
“I like being able to do what I personally find important in my work as well.”
After completing my bachelor's degree in Computer Science at The Hague University of Applied Sciences in 2001, I started working as a software developer. For a short time, I worked for a parishioner on a software package used by a tile store. There, I learned to program in the Gupta/Centura language. Afterward, I moved to an organization that developed software for healthcare institutions. I developed software in the Gupta/Centura language there for 13 years. When the company closed down, I joined a company that developed software for railway companies. I worked there for 10 years.
Because I wanted to do work with more meaning, I responded to the email Donkey Mobile had sent. I thought it would be fun to work as a back-end developer. I was already doing something similar, and I thought it would be a good idea to be able to do something I find important in my personal life in my work as well. For quite some time now, I've been volunteering at our church in Strijen, working on the projector and the website. I've found that working for the church is more fulfilling than other work.
I hope to build beautiful things together with my colleagues at Donkey Mobile in the near future, which will help the church to follow Jesus.
Do you, like Gerben, want to build the future of the church?
We are looking for talent!
